Is the Acne Program Pregnancy and/or Breastfeeding Safe?
Yes, the Acne Program is safe for clients who are pregnant and/or breastfeeding!
Routine & Treatments: There are a few skincare ingredients that need to be avoided while pregnant and/or breastfeeding, including salicylic acid, Vitamin A, and certain types of chemical peels. We have plenty of products available for your skincare routine that are generally considered safe while pregnant and/or breastfeeding! We also have a few different peels and exfoliants that we can use for your Acne Treatments that are also safe.
Prenatal Vitamins: Most prenatal vitamins contain high amounts of Biotin, which can actually trigger acne (this is why we don’t recommend Hair Skin & Nails vitamins for clients!). If possible, we recommend finding prenatal vitamins that don’t contain Biotin. We’ve found two brands of prenatal vitamins that do not contain Biotin:
What to Expect: Every client is different, but it’s normal for your acne to fluctuate throughout your pregnancy. Most clients experience more breakouts in the beginning of their first trimester as their hormones change, then their skin will calm down as they get further into their pregnancy. Most of our clients are still able to achieve clear skin, or at least manage their acne as much as possible, during pregnancy! Clients may also experience postpartum breakouts as their hormones change again, but their skin will clear up/get back on track within a few months.
For our current clients who get pregnant after starting the Acne Program, please let us know right away so we can make sure your skincare routine and upcoming treatments are safe! If you’re currently trying to get pregnant, we can also plan ahead and make sure your routine and treatments are pregnancy-safe from the beginning before you officially get pregnant.
